Is the Canada Greener Homes Grant the same as HER+?
Starting January 4, 2023, the Canada Greener Homes Grant is now known as the Home Efficiency Rebate Plus (HER+), delivered collaboratively by Natural Resources Canada and Enbridge Gas throughout Ontario. The program provides rebates for upgrades such as space heating systems, water heaters, insulation, and other energy efficiency improvements.
Homes that Qualify for the HER+ Program
- Enbridge Gas customers using gas for heating as their primary residence.
- Landlord-owned properties with tenants that use Enbridge Gas for heating.
- Non-Enbridge Gas customers who meet eligibility requirements.
- Off-grid communities with at least 10 permanent dwellings.
- Select multi-residential buildings, including low-rise and mixed-use properties.
Homes That Do Not Qualify
- Homes built within the last 6 months.
- Rental units not heated by Enbridge Gas where the owner is not the primary resident.
- Mixed-use buildings with less than 50% residential space.
- Multi-unit residential buildings exceeding 3 storeys or 600 m².
- Homes that have already reached the maximum HER+ or CGHG incentives.
- Homes that started upgrades before the pre-retrofit energy assessment.
